Bronchospasm

Me and baby Sophia went to the urgent care last week because she was wheezing. I called our family doctor but the nurse advised us to go to the urgent care instead. Sophia has Bronchospasm and Bronchiolitis.

Bronchospasm can be caused by allergies, asthma, a respiratory infection, or reaction to a medication. The bronchi are the two tubes connecting the windpipe to the left and right lungs. If the bronchi become irritated and inflamed, they can constrict or narrow. This makes it hard to breathe.

A child with bronchospasm may cough, wheeze or be short of breath. The inflamedarea produces mucus, which can partially block the airways. The chest muscles can tighten. The che child can also have a fever.

Thanks to God, Sophia don't have a fever that's why she was just given to be given at home. A very young child or child with severe bronchospasm may be admitted to the hospital for observation, intravenous fluids and oxygen.
